The Algarve, a mere two to three hours flight from most European capitals, has been a magnet to many discerning golfers for almost three decades as a year-round golfing destination and it was the legendary Henry Cotton put the Algarve on the golf map.  The Algarve is the ideal holiday land for all seasons, for the reason that its temperature Is extraordinarily uniform all the year round, the winter is short and mild and summer warm bright. The whole of the Algarve is fortunate in facing South, and also in being protected from the North by a long range of high hills which slope gently down to the sea and separate it from the rest of the Iberian sub-continent: it is these two factors that act as a moderating influence on the climate through the year, and give the Algarve a very special place in the world as far as good weather is concerned. The warm breezes from the South that make the beaches of the Algarve so delightful, pass over the lowlands and up the valleys creating such a mild climate that, even in winter, the almond trees in blossom cover vast areas of the land with a rose-coloured snow, providing a spectacle of rare beauty.
